After 4 Days of Water fasting - how it was, what changed and what i’ve learned.
Last week, I started a cleansing journey through fasting. I started with two days of juice fasting, transitioned into four days of water fasting, and finished with one more day of juice.
Throughout this experience, I experienced moments of clarity and calm, as well as challenges from my own mind, which often tempted me to run to the grocery store. It wasn’t always easy, but tuning into my body’s signals and understanding the language, supported me realise these urges were mental, not physical. On the final evening of the water fast, I stopped earlier than planned, felt clear that it was enough.
It was fascinating (nerd alert! 🤓) to track the changes happening in real-time. Yes, I lost some muscle, but it was incredible to watch my body switch to burning fat for energy. A way of “cleaning my own house,” getting rid of things I no longer needed - both physically and mentally.
And, starting to EAT - such a pleasure. That first bite into a cooked potato, and homemade broth… absolute heaven. But the highlight? A baked apple for breakfast, with greek yogurt, oats some fruits and honey.
What surprised me the most was how good I was functioning - just on water, and how the craving for sugar completely disappeared. Each day brought a growing sense of peace and strength, even during the weaker moments and bumpy nights - I’m grateful for this journey and proud of myself for going through.
Have you ever tried fasting? What was your biggest challenge? Or do you have any questions? Let’s chat in the comments!
Warmly,
Johannes
